Darren Jones MP and Claire Hazelgrove MP are looking for a creative, proactive and detail-oriented Digital Content and Communications Officer to suggest, create and share compelling and engaging content for local residents.
This is an exciting opportunity to join two dedicated teams serving local people in Greater Bristol - supporting active, impactful and approachable MPs.
This role is shared 50:50 between the teams, so you will need to be able to work effectively across both, with experience in balancing priorities and managing deliverables effectively.
As this role will sit within both teams, some of the aspects below may be more relevant to one than the other.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver end-to-end high quality, high engagement, video content to promote the MP’s’ work and campaigns across the constituency– including content ideation, and filming and editing short-form and long-form pieces tailored for a range of channels, including Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky, YouTube and TikTok
- Accompany the MPs to visits and events across their constituencies, capturing and creating compelling content
- Produce visual assets for social media using software such as Canva
- Proactively lead on digital strategy, including planning, creating and developing engaging content across a wide range of channels
- Edit and subtitle video clips using tools such as Veed and Capcut
- Produce a monthly digital newsletter
- Manage the MPs’ websites and monitor social media channels
- Suggest content ideas, formats and trends to grow reach and engagement
- Manage relationships with media and draft content for media, such as press releases, where relevant
- Provide proactive communications support for local issue-based campaigns
- Support in responding to residents’ campaign enquiries
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong skills and experience in digital content creation and delivery
- Understanding of digital media trends
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative, with good attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
