Job Details

Lucy Rigby KC MP is looking for a Digital Communications and Policy Officer, based in either London or Northampton. The role will involve a minimum of 3 days a week, up to full time depending on the candidate. When applying for this role, please specify whether you would be based in Northampton and London, and whether you would prefer 3 days per week, full-time, or have no preference.

The successful applicant will support the wider team across a range of areas, with a focus on creating digital content, and delivering clear and effective communication across multiple platforms to engage constituents.

The applicant should be a good communicator who can work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Create graphics and videos for publication on Lucy’s social media.
• Collaborate to deliver communications outputs and media statements to tight deadlines.
• Attend events as needed to create and develop media content.
• Draft policy responses to constituents and campaign groups, working at pace as issues develop.
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex policy issues from members of the public by phone, email and social media or face to face.
• Ensure accurate records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with data protection legislation.
• Data management and general administration using office software (e.g. Microsoft Office).
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.

Skills required include:
• Excellent digital and graphic design skills, including content generation and editing.
• Comprehensive understanding of social media and ability to strategise and plan accordingly.
• Good awareness of current affairs and the issues facing the constituency.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to draft clear and professional correspondence for different audiences.
• Proven organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced political environment.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to work with discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality at all times.
• Sympathetic to the values of the Labour Party
