Job Details
Responsibilities will include:
• Analyse, evaluate, and interpret information to inform decision-making.
• Ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues, including developments in key priorities and campaigns.
• Draft high-quality written materials, including speeches, press releases, and parliamentary submissions.
• Compile briefing packs, take meeting notes, and prepare parliamentary questions.
• Conduct research on policy, legislation, committee, and constituency matters.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of parliamentary business (e.g. debates, legislation, committees, Hansard).
• Manage the Westminster diary and coordinate with constituency diary.
• Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents and stakeholders.
• Engage professionally and confidentially with members of the public via phone, email, social media, and in person.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, in both Westminster and the constituency.
• Provide advice on policy issues and upcoming parliamentary business affecting the constituency.
• Assist in drafting amendments and supporting reports.
• Ensure efficient data and file management in compliance with data protection legislation.
• Collaborate with communications and casework colleagues to identify potential impacts from research and share findings effectively.
• Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the office.
Essential skills:
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
• The ability to demonstrate patience, empathy and respect for confidentiality.
• Ability to draft clear and concise letters and emails to a high professional standard.
• Experience in event or project planning.
• Strong organisational and office administration skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills.
• A working knowledge of current affairs.
Desirable skills:
• Previous experience working in an MP's office or a political environment.
• Experience of using Canva.
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
• Knowledge of the Caseworker CRM system.

Interviews will be held on Teams on Tuesday 26th May then in Westminster on Wednesday 3rd June.
If successful, you will need to complete a parliamentary security clearance application and will be asked to provide two referees (one of these must be your most recent employer).
