Job Details
Peter Swallow MP for Bracknell, Crowthorne, Sandhurst, and Whitegrove is recruiting a Constituency Support Officer to work in his constituency office.
The Constituency Support Officer is a varied and fast paced role, working with the other members of Peter’s team, to provide an excellent service to constituents and to support Parliamentary work.
Responsibilities will include:
• Attend stakeholders constituency meetings and surgery meetings as appropriate
• Attend local networking events and complete follow up actions
• Handling administrative arrangements for all meetings
• Monitor social media and online communities, scanning for events, trends and issues locally
• Manage events; this may include: venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support and organisation
• Respond to invitations from local organisations and diary manage
•Build and maintain strong stakeholder and community relationships
• Research local, regional and national issues to support the MP
•Deal with queries from local residents, assist with cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face
• General administration & team support as needed
Personal Specification:
• Knowledge of Bracknell constituency and Peter’s work within the constituency
• Competent using IT – especially Microsoft Office
• Polite, confident and empathetic approach to public engagement
• Well organised and able to prioritise, plan and respond to need flexibly
• Highly motivated and able to manage and prioritise a demanding workload, take initiative and meet deadlines.
• Reliable, diligent and professional in all ways representing the MP and office.
• Previous experience working in a community setting or with a public figure is an advantage
• Understand the values of the Labour Party and demonstrate a genuine interest in serving constituents and the community
A driving licence is desirable and there will be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours across evenings and weekends.
