Chartwell Advisory is a boutique research and strategic advisory firm, providing counsel to political and business leaders.
Based in London and building on a heritage in British politics, we now work with clients across the globe, using our expertise in politics, policy, communications, and campaigns.
We advise decision makers on public policy, market entry, and political risk. We help businesses, investors and UHNWIs navigate regulatory change, strategic risk, and geopolitical exposure. And we provide research, policy support and counsel to politicians and political campaigns. We do not undertake activity falling within the statutory definition of consultant lobbying.
The role
We are looking to appoint an Associate to work closely with our Directors and Senior Associates. This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the early stages of their career, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience, seeking exposure to high-level political, policy, and advisory work.
Key responsibilities
- Conducting research across political and policy subjects
- Producing high-quality written outputs for clients, including research notes, briefings, and longer-form analysis
- Monitoring and interpreting political, policy, and media developments, identifying relevance for client work
- Contributing to the delivery of client projects, including taking ownership of discrete workstreams
- Supporting client engagement and contributing to the translation of research into actionable insight
Core skills
- Highly analytical, with strong research skills
- Excellent written communicators, with attention to detail
- Interested in politics, public policy, and current affairs
- Proactive, reliable, and intellectually curious, with the confidence to manage their own work
- Sound judgement, including the ability to weigh evidence, prioritise, and exercise discretion in politically sensitive contexts
Experience in one or more of the following is desirable, but not essential:
- Parliament (e.g. working for an MP, committee, or in a related role)
- Party political roles or campaigns
- Think tanks or policy organisations
- Consultancy or professional research roles
- Civil Service
This is remote, with hybrid working in London available, and some travel is possible. Flexible working arrangements available.
