This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of a high-profile parliamentary office, where sound judgement and written communication is essential and the pace of work is demanding. Providing high-level parliamentary, policy and strategic support to the MP, ensuring effective delivery of parliamentary duties, stakeholder engagement and political priorities. You will be trusted to take ownership, anticipate issues before they arise and contribute meaningfully to the MP’s parliamentary impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead on research, analysis and briefing for debates, committees, legislation, domestic policy, foreign affairs, sanctions and human rights. Draft speeches, questions and correspondence. Maintain awareness of forthcoming business and identify opportunities for intervention. Monitor legislation, policy developments and political issues relevant to the MP’s priorities.

Act as a key liaison with Government departments, local authorities, campaign groups and constituents. Draft and oversee high-level correspondence and responses. Support debates and wider parliamentary activities. Manage APPG memberships and officer responsibilities, coordinate meetings, AGMs, inquiries, reports, events and roundtables.

Supervise complex or sensitive casework. Ensure timely and effective responses to constituents. Identify recurring issues and advise on policy or campaign responses.

Lead on campaigns, policy initiatives or constituency projects. Coordinate cross-team priorities and ensure delivery against objectives.

Experience in a parliamentary, political, or public affairs role with a strong understanding of UK parliamentary procedures and policymaking would be helpful. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to manage workloads effectively. High level of discretion and political awareness. Sound political judgement and the ability to operate without constant direction. Comfortable working under pressure with competing priorities and tight deadlines

Policy knowledge aligned to the MP’s areas of interest would be desirable.

The role is based in Westminster, also Chingford & Woodford Green. Some flexibility required in line with parliamentary business. Employment and salary in accordance with IPSA rules. Strict adherence to confidentiality and data protection standards is essential.
