Job Details

Sir Gavin Williamson, MP for Stone, Great Wyrley and Penkridge is looking for a full-time Parliamentary Assistant to join his Westminster office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a busy diary as well as performing a range of administrative tasks. The position would suit someone who is motivated and diligent, with an eye for detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Primary responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Westminster office
• Inbox management and management of the Westminster diary
• Photocopying, filing, record-keeping and basic correspondence
• Organising tours, gallery tickets and PMQ tickets for constituents
• Drafting Policy and casework responses to constituents
• Other office activities to support the MP, as required

The successful candidate is likely to have the following skills and attributes:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Political awareness, with an interest in current affairs.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge and familiarity of parliamentary duties and the work of an MP, including policy interests, and constituency issues
• Willingness to undertake a wide range of tasks and support the team as required
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
