Job Details

The office of Danny Kruger is looking for maternity cover for a Senior Parliamentary Assistant. You will be based in Westminster with the opportunity for some remote working. The ideal candidate must have previous experience working as a Parliamentary Assistant or a similar role within Parliament, and must have a working knowledge of parliamentary processes and the administrative support required for an MP.

The role will primarily consist of diary management while Danny is in London (typically Monday to Thursday each week). There will also be some requirement for briefings/research, and parliamentary administration (submitting questions on Danny's behalf, organising meetings/visits to Parliament, etc). 

This role is for four days per week (Monday to Thursday). The ideal start date would be between mid-July and the start of August, until April 2027.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Deal with complex queries and complaints on the MP's behalf, including drafting and signing letters
  • Diary management
  • Horizon-scanning, anticipate what advice or action may be required; proactively identify problems and resolve them
  • Maintain and utilise knowledge of relevant legislation, including impact on the local constituency 
  • Research local, regional or national issues to support the MP's work
  • Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups
  • To advise and ensure the MP is fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the House (as requested by the MP)
  • To produce and present high quality written notes and professional advice 

Please note there may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours, including assisting with events as requested.

Interview/Start Dates

Please note this role is not available until mid-July at the very earliest. 

Interviews will take place in June,, and successful candidates will be notified on Friday, May 29th. Recruitment for this role may end before the given date if a suitable candidate is found in the meantime.
