Richard Quigley MP is looking for a Constituency Apprentice to join his team.
The successful candidate will provide administrative and project support across the team, with a particular focus on casework (supporting constituents). They will also be the first point of contact in the constituency office, taking enquiries over the phone, in-person, and via email.
The role would suit someone who is keen to develop practical skills and knowledge in the workplace. The apprenticeship is designed to equip learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to support business operations, management and project delivery. The apprenticeship includes work-based learning, and on the job training, helping the successful candidate build a portfolio of evidence and prepare for an End Point Assessment. The apprentice will be supported by HTP Apprenticeship College Ltd to complete a Business Administrator Apprenticeship (Level 3) and equip them with skills needed by Island employers.
This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about the work of an MP, develop highly transferable knowledge and skills, and gain a recognised industry qualification, whilst helping support islanders. Based in the constituency office, in Newport, you’ll be part of a small but supportive team helping the MP to make the island an even better place to live, work and learn.
This apprenticeship is offered on a fixed term part-time basis working 4 days a week (including training) for up to 16 months. There may be a requirement to occasionally work outside of hours and travel for work.

Main duties include:
• Being the first point of contact for enquiries – including by phone and in-person
• General office administration
• Assisting/learning how to manage casework
• Providing routine responses to constituents
• Attending surgeries and other meetings
• Learning/assisting with research
• Assisting on projects
• Assisting with arrangements for events
• Assisting/learning how to monitor media coverage and brief MP on local issues
• Completing all College work and submitting work when due, working towards completing your Business Administrator Level 3 course
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
