Job Details
The purpose of the role is to support the casework of Julie Minns MP by providing information, advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues.
Caseworkers play an important role in an MP's office, supporting the MP to ensure that constituents' concerns are heard and addressed. You will be liaising with Government departments, local councils, the voluntary sector and a range of other bodies.
This is a full-time office-based role at the constituency office and remote working is not offered.
Key responsibilities
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face.
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Draft responses to constituents ensuring that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Assist at advice surgeries and other constituency meetings and follow up as appropriate
• Follow up on social media queries and comments as required
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
There is a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours on at least one Friday evening and Saturday morning a month and travel for work occasionally. Time off in lieu is granted.
Desirable
• Experience of customer relations
• Knowledge of advice and support services within local government, DWP, government agencies
• Familiarity with Caseworker software or database software
