Job Details
Meg Hillier MP is seeking a Constituency Support Officer to join her Westminster office.
The successful candidate will support Meg and her team primarily by responding to enquiries from constituents. They will also assist senior colleagues across the team, by carrying out administrative duties including using casework software to tag and file cases, and other office admin.
Note, this is not a policy/politically focussed role and would suit a candidate with a proven track record of effective office administration and excellent organisation skills. Meg provides a training and development programme as part of your employment.
Meg would welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented in the Houses of Parliament.
Responsibilities
Based at Westminster four days a week, working to the Senior Caseworker and Parliamentary Assistant. Assess casework coming in via post, email, and telephone. Generate responses to constituents and action letters to appropriate bodies within the required deadline. Assess replies received and generate response letters to constituents. Filing work in the shared filing system. Phone answering in rotation dealing with enquiries from constituents and others. Attendance at surgery, including occasionally on a Saturday. Management of ticket ballot and tours/tickets applications from constituents. General office administration and support.
Skills and experience required
Excellent people skills. Excellent writing and communication skills. IT and casework software proficiency required. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills. Interest in current affairs and sympathy with Labour Party values. Knowledge of Hackney or a similar area is desirable.
