Job Details

Jonathan Hinder MP seeks an enthusiastic Constituency Support Officer to support the work of his constituency office in Pendle and Clitheroe. This new and varied role will involve working across casework, campaigns and general administrative functions. Applicants should have a keen interest in politics, but there is no requirement for any experience of working in politics. Key responsibilities are as follows:

• Assist at Jonathan’s surgeries, and follow up as appropriate.

• Attend constituency meetings with/on behalf of Jonathan where required.

• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media, or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required.

• Draft written responses to constituents on casework and policy matters.

• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with data protection legislation.

• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP.

• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases on behalf of constituents.

• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.

• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.

• The starting salary for this role will be 28-30k, subject to experience.
