Job Details

Jayne Kirkham MP for Truro and Falmouth is recruiting a Support Officer to work in her local constituency office. The Constituency Support Office role is varied and fast paced. The successful person will work on site in the Truro office, alongside other members of Jayne’s team, to provide an excellent service to constituents and to support Parliamentary work.


Responsibilities include:

• Monitor social media and online communities, scanning for events, trends and issues locally. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news.

• Attend and support with constituency events including surgeries, roundtables and ‘Tea with your MP’ meetings as appropriate. This may include: venue research and bookings; compiling and managing invitations; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support and organisation

• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face.

• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP. Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation

• Build and maintain strong community relationships

• Research local, regional and national issues to support the MP

• Respond to invitations from local organisations and diary manage

• General administration and team support as needed, including handling administrative and diary arrangements

• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

Interview/Start Dates

Candidates should be available for interview in Truro on 28 May. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible, following secruity clearance, in order to support constituency work during the summer recess.
