Location: London
Salary: £30,000-£40,000 D.O.E.
Length of Contract: Permanent
Job Details
The Role
The Business Council Manager sits at the heart of the Jobs Foundation's next phase of growth, at the intersection of business and politics, helping to translate the voice of thousands of employers into policy influence at Westminster, in the devolved nations, and across mayoral combined authorities.
Having built a National Business Council of nearly 1,500 business leaders, we are expanding our on-the-ground presence through Regional Business Councils. This role would work with regional chairs and steering committees to build engaged local networks, driving the rollout of the Jobs Foundation Pledge, and helping translate our mission into meaningful impact in communities across the country.
You will have real ownership over how we grow and deepen our business community, with the chance to develop your expertise in network management, stakeholder engagement and policy work. The role would suit someone from a policy, public affairs or political background who wants to move into an outward-facing role with real breadth, combining stakeholder engagement, events, membership and the chance to shape national debate.
Responsibilities
• Lead the development and expansion of the Business Council, including managing regional rollouts: securing partners and sponsors, supporting launch events, and setting each new council up for long-term success.
• Work closely with Regional Chairs and Steering Committees as their primary point of contact, supporting them to convene events, develop regional policy positions, and represent the business community to devolved mayors, combined authorities and local government.
• Contribute to campaigns, outreach strategies and digital tools to grow the national Business Council, ensuring new members are recruited, engaged and retained.
• Support the Jobs Foundation's policy and public affairs work, translating the priorities of Business Council members into representations to government, including consultations, policy reports, and engagement with ministers, MPs and mayoral offices.
• Drive adoption of the Jobs Foundation Pledge across the Business Council network.
• Build engagement, retention and peer-to-peer recruitment across the network, developing new systems and approaches to support an expanding membership base
Closing Date: 5 June 2026
