The Education Policy Institute is an independent, impartial and evidence-based research institute that aims to promote high quality education outcomes for all children and young people, regardless of social background.

Each year we recruit at least one summer research intern. The intern works alongside our experts in education and mental health analysis, policy and evidence, and gains experience in producing high-quality research and analysis.

We typically recruit undergraduates entering their final year of study, but we are open to applications from those at other life stages (for example: recent graduates, apprenticeship graduates or career changers). We welcome applicants studying on degree courses containing a quantitative element, with an interest in applying their knowledge and skills to researching and evaluating public policy.

As part of our talented and passionate team you will:

• Contribute to at least one of our forthcoming reports on either education or mental health through research and data analysis, as well as report writing.
• Conduct a short piece of analysis in your chosen area of education or mental health policy.
• Provide support to EPI’s role as an independent and expert commentator on education.
• Attend meetings with our partners to discuss collaborations, policy challenges and new ideas to improve standards in education and/or young people’s mental health.
• Contribute new and thoughtful ideas to our research programme and priorities.
• Learn about the operation and running of a research institute, including how it engages with government, parliamentarians, the media and wider public.
