Richard is looking for a Communications Officer to work 22.5 hours across the working week.
Job Details
Key strategic responsibilities
Produce compelling social media content, including graphics and videos
Join Richard on some constituency business on Fridays - and occasionally, other days outside normal hours
- Manage and plan social media narrative
- Working with the Communications Officer, maintain a communications grid, mapping out themes for messages for the days and weeks ahead
Produce online graphics and video content, publicising Richard’s work in the Honiton & Sidmouth constituency and Westminster
Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be referred to others in Richard’s Parliamentary/constituency teams
Ensure online presence is meeting the demands of constituents
Draft newsletters on an ad hoc basis
Create and schedule social media posts, captions, and campaigns
Capture, edit, and archive photos and videos for digital use
Essential Criteria
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce engaging content across a range of formats
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Confident using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
• Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently
• Comfortable using digital tools
Desirable
• Understanding of social media scheduling tools (e.g. Buffer)
• Basic graphic design, photo editing, or video creation skills
• Awareness of local and national political issues
• Sympathetic to the values of the Liberal Democrats
• Knowledge of the Honiton & Sidmouth constituency
