Job Details
Sarah Coombes MP is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and community-minded individual to join her constituency team in a role combining constituency casework with community engagement activity.
This is a full-time role based primarily in the constituency office.
Key Responsibilities
Casework (4 days per week)
- Manage a high volume of constituent enquiries by phone, email, social media and face to face
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records in line with data protection legislation
- Ensure all cases are handled promptly, sensitively and professionally
- Monitor progress of cases and ensure actions are completed
- Analyse recurring issues and provide feedback to colleagues and the MP
- Use casework management systems, Microsoft Office and other IT systems effectively
Community Engagement (1 day per week)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, residents and local stakeholders
- Help coordinate local campaigns, projects and engagement activity across the constituency
- Analyse engagement feedback and prepare briefing notes for the MP
- Maintain awareness of local issues, campaigns and community priorities
- Support the planning and delivery of visits and constituency events
Person Specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience in a public-facing customer service, casework, community organising or campaigning role
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- A polite, empathetic and professional approach to working with the public
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Confidence building relationships with residents, community organisations and stakeholders
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office, email and casework management systems
- A strong work ethic and commitment to supporting local residents
