Job Details

Rosie Duffield, Member of Parliament for Canterbury, is seeking a Senior Caseworker to join her constituency office team. 

The successful candidate will oversee a substantial caseload of complex enquiries, ensure appropriate follow-up actions are carried out, and keep constituents updated throughout the process. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a good understanding of local support services and advice organisations.

Applicants should ideally have experience handling casework, preferably gained through working in an MP’s office or a similar environment, liaising with external organisations and stakeholders, and providing guidance or supervision within a team setting.

This role is advertised as full-time, however part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities*:

  • Manage and progress a large portfolio of complex casework appropriately.
  • Assist with surgeries and other meetings, and follow up as appropriate.
  • Respond to and engage professionally, sensitively, confidentially, and with integrity to correspondence and enquiries from constituents by email, telephone, and face-to-face.
  • Ensure all cases are logged, monitor progress, and ensure all identified actions are taken.
  • Ensure records are maintained and information is managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation.
  • Exercise a high level of autonomy in reaching decisions on cases based on the evidence.
  • Liaise with government agencies, the voluntary sector, and others to resolve constituency matters.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A highly motivated and well-organised individual who can manage and prioritise a demanding workload, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable, efficient, and able to work quickly with a positive outlook.
  • Experience of working within the advice and guidance sector or a similar environment.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to empathise and work well as part of a team.

There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside normal hours and travel occasionally for work.
