Job Details
Margaret Mullane MP is looking for a motivated and dynamic Community Engagement and Campaigns Officer to join her constituency team. This role offers a unique opportunity to support Margaret’s work by engaging with residents and key community stakeholders, further developing the MPs volunteer network, organising and delivering high impact events and local campaigns.
The successful candidate will be based in the constituency office. A full UK driving licence is desirable. Days are subject to negotiation but must include Fridays. This role will also require sporadic evening and weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Further develop and manage the MPs volunteer network.
- Build relationships with community groups, organisations, and leaders.
- Organise constituency events, including but not limited to, coffee mornings, single issue meetings, litter picking sessions, petitioning and street stalls.
- Coordinate and support publicity for community events and activities.
- Help design, coordinate and execute important local and national campaigns
- Produce and organise the delivery of community surveys which inform the member’s work.
- Management of the members monthly e-newsletter.
- Attend meetings and events with stakeholders and residents on behalf of the member.
- General office administration.
Person Specification:
- Confidence and ability to lead, mobilise and manage volunteers is essential.
- The successful applicant should have a proven track record in organising meetings, events, and liaising with community groups.
- Proactive and highly organised – they will be able to manage multiple and conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be proficient with IT including all Microsoft Office programmes with experience using mail-merge and spreadsheets.
- Have the ability to work independently. Self-motivated and able to manage own workload.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills. Confident, approachable, and empathetic in public engagement.
- They will also need to be a strong team player and pro-active in delivering projects as well as keeping the team and member updated.
Desirable:
- Experience of managing people.
- Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
- Experience of organising and leading political campaigns.
- Experience of software such as Contact Creator.
