Job Title: Senior Caseworker

Working For: Jonathan Brash MP (Hartlepool)

Location: Hartlepool

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Length of Contract: Temporary fixed-term contract – initial 3 months to cover long-term sickness absence, with likely extension subject to operational requirements.

Job Details

Jonathan Brash MP is seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Caseworker to join his Hartlepool constituency office on a temporary basis covering long-term sickness absence.

This is a senior frontline constituency casework role within a busy and fast-paced parliamentary office. The successful candidate will be expected to manage complex and often sensitive casework independently, helping residents resolve issues and navigate public services effectively.

The role is focused on practical constituency casework rather than policy development or parliamentary research. Typical cases may involve housing and homelessness, benefits, pensions, NHS treatment and access to healthcare, adult and children’s social care, immigration and visa matters, policing and anti-social behaviour, council services, education issues, and complaints involving government agencies or public bodies.

Responsibilities include managing and progressing a substantial constituency casework load; communicating with constituents by phone, email and in person; drafting detailed correspondence on behalf of the MP; engaging professionally with government departments, local authorities, the NHS, police, housing providers and third-sector organisations; maintaining accurate and confidential case records; and supporting constituency surgeries and meetings.

Applicants must have substantial experience in parliamentary casework, advocacy, advice work, welfare rights, housing, immigration, or another comparable public-facing case management environment. A strong understanding of how local and national government services operate is essential, alongside the judgement, resilience and professionalism required to handle demanding and sensitive cases effectively.

Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organisational ability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure. Experience using Caseworker.mp or similar systems is desirable.

A strong knowledge of Hartlepool — including local communities, services, organisations and key issues affecting residents — is highly desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a professional, ambitious and community-focused parliamentary team committed to delivering real outcomes for local people.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Closing Date: 5 June 2026
