Job Details

Claire Coutinho is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and personable caseworker to join her constituency team, working 3-4 days per week from home, with occasional surgery days in the constituency office in Lingfield, Surrey.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience as a caseworker in an MP’s office, be a well organised self-starter capable of working independently, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engage professionally, confidentially with care and integrity with members of the public, through telephone enquiries, social media, emails and face to face.
  • Ensure all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken through the Caseworker system.
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation.
  • Ensure that all cases and decisions are properly documented, writing clear concise reports containing analysis, explanation of the findings and conclusions, and appropriate action plan.
  • Exercise a high level of autonomy in progressing and reaching decisions on cases.
  • Liaise with Government departments, agencies, the voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency casework.
  • Manage a large caseload of complex cases, working in a professional, confidential, caring and sensitive manner.
  • Provide briefings for the MP.
  • Handling administrative arrangements for MP surgeries and meetings with constituents.
  • There may be requirement for the role holder to travel for work occasionally.

Interview/Start Dates

Applications will close on 12th June and successful applicants will be invited to a Teams interview the following week. This will be followed by a second, face-to-face interview in Westminster or Lingfield.
