What’s in it for you
A senior leadership role reporting into the Head of External Affairs, sitting on an SLT alongside media and PR, customer communications and creative. You will shape strategy, build sector relationships and have the autonomy to lead external engagement.
Purpose
Lead AQA’s policy and public affairs function, producing high-quality insight and engaging effectively with government and key stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
Lead a multi-location team of four (two London, two Manchester). Oversee policy outputs (reports, consultation responses and briefings). Lead engagement with government and key stakeholders, and horizon scan for risks and opportunities.
Success in this role will be defined by your ability to:
• Position AQA as a leading assessment organisation that delivers for today and helps shape what comes next
• Produce high-quality, insight-led policy analysis and engage effectively with government and education stakeholders
• Lead a high-performing team that works collaboratively to the benefit of AQA
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
• Strong knowledge of education policy (general and vocational)
• Strong understanding of government and political processes
• Experience of public affairs approaches and tools
• Credibility and influencing skills with senior stakeholders
• The ability to translate insight into clear, compelling messaging
