Length of Contract: Permanent (Part time/flexible hours) Constituency based with the option to work from home for some of the time and potential to increase hours
Job Details
Abena Oppong-Asare MP is seeking a senior caseworker, or an experienced caseworker ready to take the next step. The role involves overseeing a large caseload of complex cases, managing workflows across the team, ensuring timely action is taken, and keeping constituents informed.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong knowledge of local and national support organisations and advice services. They will be organised, approachable and proactive, with a genuine commitment to helping constituents achieve the best outcomes. Experience managing or supporting a team, triaging casework, liaising with stakeholders, and mentoring colleagues is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Casework and engagement
- Manage a large caseload professionally, sensitively and confidentially
- Organise and attend surgeries and constituency engagements, with appropriate follow-up
- Exercise autonomy in progressing and resolving cases
Stakeholder management
- Liaise with Government departments, voluntary organisations and external stakeholders
- Engage constructively and sensitively with members of the public
Analysis and reporting
- Analyse and interpret data to inform the MP on key issues and trends
- Produce briefings, updates and action plans with clear recommendations
- Research local, regional and national issues to support the MP’s work
Administration
- Maintain and improve casework systems, templates and stakeholder records
- Support management of diary and inbox where required
- Handle all data in line with GDPR and confidentiality standards
Additional responsibilities
- Take initiative and drive actions forward
- Supervise caseworkers, interns and volunteers, providing coaching and support
- Occasionally work outside standard hours or travel as required
Person Specification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with attention to detail
- Analytical and able to assess complex information
- Reliable, proactive and able to work independently
