About the role
Liam Conlon MP is seeking a Community Engagement and Campaigns Officer to support his work for constituents across Beckenham and Penge.
This constituency-focused role centres on campaigns, communications and stakeholder engagement, helping identify issues affecting residents, develop campaigns, communicate Liam’s work, build local relationships and support community engagement.
Key responsibilities
Campaigns
• Identify issues affecting residents through casework trends, correspondence, meetings, events, stakeholder feedback and social media.
• Develop and deliver local campaigns that raise awareness, influence decision-makers and secure outcomes for constituents.
• Coordinate campaign activity, including research, planning, engagement, petitions, surveys, events, visits and briefings.
• Monitor local issues, council developments and parliamentary activity, supporting Liam to raise concerns locally and in Parliament.
Communications
• Draft engaging communications to constituents about Liam’s work and campaigns.
• Support newsletters, emails, website content, local press and printed communications.
• Help respond to policy and campaign correspondence, ensuring replies are timely and aligned with Liam’s position.
• Highlight positive local stories, community work and outcomes secured for residents.
Stakeholder engagement
• Build relationships with local stakeholders, including businesses, schools, faith groups, charities and community organisations.
• Support Liam’s engagement through meetings, visits, events and follow-up.
• Prepare briefing notes and coordinate constituency visits and events.
Person specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Relevant experience in campaigns, communications, politics, public affairs, community organising or similar public-facing work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities.
• Good judgement and sensitivity when engaging with constituents and organisations.
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn about Parliament and local issues.
• Alignment with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
