This is an opportunity for you to shape the Opposition's communication on Business and Trade.
In this role, you will primarily support Andrew Griffith MP across his wide and varied brief as Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade, and in his active campaigning in his constituency.
You will create content that resonates, sharing the message the Opposition has on business and trade, and translating complex policy into a straightforward narrative.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to achieve agreed goals across Andrew's work as Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade and as a constituency MP.
- Deliver high quality, high engagement video and digital content – including filming and editing short and long-form content tailored for a range of channels
- Manage relationships with press, broadcast, podcasters and specialist media, including drafting media quotes, statements, and reactive lines at pace in a fast-moving news cycle
- Office lead on digital strategy, including planning, creating and developing engaging content across a wide range of channels
- Track the effectiveness of digital communications and make recommendations to improve performance. Where appropriate, manage digital advertising and targeting
- Full oversight across the MP's websites, social media channels and photo bank
- Accompany the MP in Westminster, on shadow cabinet related visits (usually Mon-Thurs) and constituency events (usually Fridays), collecting photo and video content for use across a range of channels and contexts
- Provide proactive communications support for local issue-based campaigns
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Strong proficiency and experience in digital content creation across video and graphic design, using professional software and equipment, with a demonstrable track record of delivery
- Operation of professional-grade camera, lighting, audio, and stabilisation equipment to broadcast standard
- Creative editing within an established visual style using professional editing software, with strong judgement on pacing, sequencing, and narrative
- Understanding of digital media trends
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative, with good attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
