An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Officer to support Sarah's work, building strong community relationships and transforming ideas into impactful campaigns that make a real difference.
You will lead the constituency communications strategy, create engaging content across digital, press and social media channels, and ensure Sarah's work is communicated clearly and effectively to residents and stakeholders.
You will also manage the constituency diary, coordinate events and engagements, and help strengthen relationships with constituents, local organisations and community leaders. Through your work, you will play a key role in amplifying local voices, promoting community initiatives and supporting projects that improve people's lives.
The role requires a creative, proactive and organised individual with excellent communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be based in the constituency office, with occasional travel to London.
Key responsibilities
- Constituency Diary Management/Constituency Engagement Planning
- Working with the MP and local people to develop community campaigns and projects
- Providing briefings and research and speechwriting when required
- Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
- Attend constituency meetings as appropriate
- Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency.
- Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
- Follow up on social media queries and comments
- Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required (on constituency, nonparty-political matters)
- Produce press releases, liaise with the media, meeting deadlines as appropriate
- Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
