Care Rights UK is recruiting a Policy, Campaigns and Communications Lead to join its small, dedicated team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and team to lead the charity’s influencing, engagement, and communications work. This is a strategic and hands-on role, ensuring alignment across policy, campaigns, communications, advice services, research, and fundraising.
Key responsibilities include leading communications and engagement by coordinating content, managing social media, and increasing supporter engagement. The postholder will also oversee policy work by monitoring and analysing developments in UK adult social care, drafting consultation responses, and undertaking lobbying activity. They will lead campaign development by planning and delivering campaigns and producing materials.
The role involves building relationships with politicians, policymakers, and partner organisations, and acting as a spokesperson for media and public engagement. It also includes line management of the Operations Coordinator and supporting collaboration across the team to deliver marketing and fundraising strategies.
Candidates should have experience in policy, campaigns, or communications, along with knowledge of lobbying, influencing, and supporter engagement. An understanding of the UK adult social care sector is important, either professionally or through lived experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to communicate complex issues clearly. The ideal candidate will also have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, the ability to manage priorities and deadlines, and experience working independently and within a small team. A proactive, solution-focused approach and commitment to the organisation’s values are key, as is recognising the importance of involving people with care needs and their families in shaping policy and campaigns.
