Job Details

Are you passionate about tackling inequality and making a real difference to people’s lives? We are recruiting two Anti-Poverty Project Officers to join our joint Low-Income Family Tracker (LIFT) Programme with Cambridge City Council. This programme uses data to identify residents who may be missing out on financial support and helps them access the assistance they are entitled to.
This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively across both Councils on impactful, high-profile projects that directly support residents in financial hardship. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering initiatives that improve outcomes for communities in South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City, while gaining valuable experience across a range of service areas in Local Government.
One role will focus on projects for South Cambridgeshire residents, and the other on Cambridge City residents. Both posts are based within South Cambridgeshire District Council and form part of a shared LIFT team delivering similar work across both areas. If you have a preference for a specific area, please include this in your supporting statement.
These roles are funded through the UK Government’s Crisis and Resilience Fund and delivered in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council.
What you’ll do:

Lead the planning and delivery of projects to support low-income residents
Contact residents to encourage uptake of financial support (via phone, email, and letter)
Act as a key contact for LIFT within the Council and with external partners
Represent the Council on a county-wide LIFT working group
Support residents with applications for financial assistance

We’re looking for someone who:

Is passionate about reducing inequality and supporting vulnerable residents
Can manage projects independently and take initiative
Communicates confidently with a wide range of people
Is organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities

South Cambridgeshire District Council operates a four-day working week, with colleagues delivering 100% of their work in approximately 85% of their contracted hours, for full pay. This approach supports wellbeing, attracts talent, and improves service delivery.
