Job Details

Marie Tidball MP is looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual to lead on her constituency priorities. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the successful candidate will work from the constituency office, with the opportunity to travel occasionally to Westminster.

This position will be offered as a Constituency Support Officer or Manager depending on the experience and suitability of the successful candidate. A final decision on title and salary will be made at offer.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with a high degree of delegation and responsibility.
  • General knowledge of Marie Tidball MP, the Labour Party, and their shared policies, principles and organisation.
  • Evidence of sharing the aims, priorities and values of Marie Tidball MP and the Labour Party.
  • Experience in campaigns and/or research. 
  • Experience in media preparation and broadcast briefing. 
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A driver's licence and access to a car will be considered an advantage.

Key responsibilities

  • Accompanying on travel around, to and from the constituency.
  • Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports.
  • Attend and organise constituency meetings as appropriate.
  • Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels.
  • Develop knowledge in specialist areas.
  • Engage professionally and confidentially, with care and integrity, with members of the public.
  • Follow up on social media requests.
  • Liaise and engage with external providers and suppliers as and when required.
  • Liaise with government agencies, the voluntary sector, and others to resolve constituency matters.
  • Manage projects.
  • Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, and prepare press releases as required.
  • Oversee online platforms, including the website and social media.
  • Prepare media briefings.
  • Proactive and reactive communications with all media.
  • Produce press releases and liaise with the media, meeting deadlines as appropriate.
  • Research local, regional, or national issues to support the MP's work.
  • Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act.
  • There may be a requirement to work outside of normal working hours.

Interview/Start Dates

All candidates will be asked to complete a task for longlisting. Interview invitations will be sent no later than 11 July. Interviews will take place throughout July over Teams or in person, depending on availability. The successful candidate must be able to start on 31 August.
