Job Details
Connor Naismith MP is looking for a highly committed individual for the role of a part-time Constituency Support Officer in his busy constituency office based in Crewe, 3 days per week.
The successful candidate will support the organisation of events such as coffee mornings and surgeries. This will involve attending the events, taking photos and recording any follow up action required as a result of the visit. Building and maintaining links with a range of local stakeholders, including businesses, charities, schools, community groups and councillors, will also be key to this role.
Essential criteria:
• Strong interest in politics, public policy and current affairs.
• Excellent research, writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage priorities.
• Highly organised, comfortable working at pace, and able to manage several priorities at once
• Ability to adapt and work effectively as part of a team who manage diverse and varying work-loads collaboratively.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital platforms.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Key responsibilities
• Assist with events including venue research, bookings, guest lists, suppliers and on-the-day support.
• Engage professionally, confidentially with care and integrity with members of the public, through telephone enquiries, emails and face to face
• Support projects, campaigns and scheduling.
• Attend surgeries, meetings and events.
• Provide admin support, including correspondence, emails and post
• Support research, data analysis, drafting responses, visits and communications.
• Provide additional capacity to the team.
• Take initial action on queries from members of the public, including responding on behalf of the MP
• There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally
Other desired characteristics include:
• Clear and concise writing style, excellent interpersonal skills and passionate about establishing relationships.
• Ability to carry out tasks quickly and to a high standard.
• Ability to manage a large and varied workload under pressure.
