Job Details
We are looking for a Parliamentary and Public Affairs Manager to lead our parliamentary and political work. This is a varied and fast-paced role at the heart of a small, dedicated team, offering the chance to shape LFI’s engagement with parliamentarians, contribute to high-quality policy work and play a leading part in our delegations.
Working closely with the director, you will:
- Manage LFI’s parliamentary and political work
- Build and maintain relationships with parliamentarians and other key stakeholders in the UK and Israel
- Produce content for parliamentary activity, along with the supporting briefings and materials
- Contribute to research and the production of high-quality briefings for MPs, peers and other stakeholders, and assist with the preparation of policy papers
- Manage LFI’s advocacy work both within and outside of parliament
- Organise and lead on political delegations, primarily to Israel and Palestine
- Contribute to LFI’s digital output and social media communications
- Support LFI’s media and press activity
- Take on other duties commensurate with the role as the work of the organisation requires
Person specification
Essential
- A strong understanding of, and commitment to, UK politics and the UK Labour party
- Knowledge of, and a genuine interest in, UK-Israel relations and the Middle East
- Experience of working in or around parliament, public affairs, campaigning or a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and concise briefings to tight deadlines
- Strong research skills and a keen eye for detail
- The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
- A willingness and ability to travel internationally, including to Israel and Palestine
- Commitment to the aims and values of Labour Friends of Israel.
Desirable
- Experience of organising events or delegations
- Familiarity with digital and social media tools
- An established network within parliament and/or the Labour party
