Job Details
In this role, you will primarily support John Lamont MP in his busy role as the MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk together with his responsibilities in the House of Commons.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to promote the work of John Lamont MP
- Deliver high quality, high engagement video and digital content – including filming and editing short and long-form content tailored for a range of channels
- Manage relationships with press, broadcast, including drafting media quotes, statements, and reactive lines at pace in a fast-moving news cycle
- Office lead on digital strategy, including planning, creating and developing engaging content across a wide range of channels
- Track the effectiveness of digital communications and make recommendations to improve performance.
- Manage digital advertising and targeting
- Full oversight across the MP's websites, social media channels and photo bank
- Accompany John in Westminster (Monday to Thursday) and constituency events (usually Fridays), collecting photo and video content for use across a range of channels and contexts
- Provide proactive communications support for local issue-based campaigns
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Strong proficiency and experience in digital content creation across video and graphic design, using professional software and equipment, with a demonstrable track record of delivery
- Operation of professional-grade camera, lighting, audio, and stabilisation equipment to broadcast standard
- Creative editing within an established visual style using professional editing software, with strong judgement on pacing, sequencing, and narrative
- Understanding of digital media trends
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative, with good attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
