Job Details
This is not a traditional communications role.
We are not looking for someone to simply post on social media. We are looking for someone who can create campaigns, tell stories, shape narratives and drive engagement. This is a role for somebody who spots opportunities, thinks differently and brings forward fresh ideas.
Working at the heart of a fast-paced operation, you will lead on digital content, social media, graphics, video production and press activity. One day you could be filming and editing content for social media, the next drafting a press release, responding to breaking news or helping deliver a major local campaign.
This is an exciting opportunity for somebody who enjoys working at pace, thinking on their feet and taking ownership of their work.
Key Responsibilities
• Creating engaging graphics, video content and digital campaigns.
• Managing and growing social media platforms.
• Drafting press releases, statements and media briefings.
• Producing content for websites, newsletters and digital communications.
• Monitoring media coverage and identifying opportunities to generate engagement.
• Working with colleagues to promote local campaigns, events and parliamentary activity.
• Supporting media relations and responding to fast-moving issues.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Excellent graphic design and content creation skills.
• Experience using software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Canva or equivalent.
• Strong video filming and editing capability.
• Outstanding written communication skills.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately and under pressure.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to generate creative ideas and think outside the box.
• Confidence working independently and as part of a small team.
About You
You will be creative, proactive and full of ideas. You will enjoy a challenge, thrive in a fast-moving environment and be comfortable adapting quickly as priorities change.
A keen interest in politics and current affairs is essential, as is sympathy with the aims and values of the Conservative Party.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
