Job Details

An opportunity has arisen in Rupa Huq’s office to join her team as a researcher/caseworker.
The successful candidate will be an all-rounder capable of undertaking the roles of (i) research for Parliamentary matters and (ii) conducting casework for constituents including dealing with govern ment departments, local authority and other bodies.


Proven ability to manage a diverse workload under pressure and handle complex, sensitive cases
effectively with first rate organisation, administration and communication skills is essential.


Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Research & develop/maintain current knowledge on relevant areas of legislation & parliamen
  • tary business, particularly those that align with Rupa’s areas of focus.
  • Help to prepare briefings to ensure Rupa is fully supported including for committees, parliamen
  • tary questions etc.
  • Research and draft speeches, articles, parliamentary questions and briefings; monitor legisla
  • tion and political developments.
  • Confident in meeting constituents face-to-face and speaking with them on the phone, often to
  • discuss challenging and personal issues.
  • Process and respond to a high volume of correspondence from constituents on a wide range of
  • policy and casework issues in a professional, confidential, caring and sensitive manner.
  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately.
  • Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act.
  • Attend constituency surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and
  • travel for work occasionally.
  • Knowledge of the Ealing Central and Acton constituency will be a distinct advantage.
