Job Details
Tessa Munt is the MP for the Wells and Mendip Hills constituency. This is an exciting opportunity as she recruits a Caseworker to join her team and assist her constituents with the matters which concern them.
In this office based role, you can work full or part time; job sharing welcome. Full time is 37.5 hrs a week. Roles have 3 months’ probation with a view to a long-term position.
Responsibilities
• Receiving high volumes of enquiries from constituents by phone, letter, email, social media and in meetings;
• Dealing with enquiries promptly, sensitively, confidentially; documenting all exchanges, actions and decisions accurately on our casework system in line with GDPR;
• Liaising with other team members on progress, trends and observations, drafting responses, collating evidence, preparing reports; updating constituents on progress and follow-up plans;
• Building and maintaining good working relationships with government agencies, housing providers, the third sector, local councils and others, aiming to resolve constituents’ concerns;
• Organising meetings; note taking at surgeries with Tessa on a rota with others.

• Strong interpersonal skills; empathy; emotional intelligence; well-developed listening skills; a sensitive but tenacious approach;
• Ability to be flexible in a fast-moving environment;
• Respect for the confidential nature of working in a sensitive and public-facing role;
• Able to work individually and as part of a team;
• Excellent organisational and communication skills - written and verbal, with an attention to detail;
• Policy research focusing on resolving casework;
• Willingness to attend training on policy, law and legislation;
• Good knowledge of office based IT systems and admin tasks.

Caseworkers occasionally travel for work reasons and join Tessa for surgeries and home visits outside usual weekday office hours. Access to the use of a car and a clean driving licence in this rural area is necessary.
You don’t have to be a member of the Liberal Democrats to work with Tessa, but empathy with the Party’s aims and values is important.
