You'll own Luke's digital presence, setting the tone, spotting the moment, and turning parliamentary and local work into content that lands. If you live on your feeds, think in clips and captions, and want a genuine foot in the door of political communications, this role is built for you.
This is primarily a social media and content creation role, with an element of traditional press work alongside.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create high-quality digital content including graphics, short-form videos, and written posts tailored to different audiences.
• Film and edit video content using video editing software, and design visual materials using Canva and similar tools.
• Develop and implement creative ideas and campaigns to increase reach and engagement.
• Draft press releases and liaise with local, regional and national media outlets.
• Support Luke's local events, community engagement and outreach activities.
• Keep Luke’s online presence including his website up to date with his work.
• Monitor analytics and trends to inform strategy and improve engagement.

Essential Skills & Attributes:
• Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends and audience engagement.
• Proven experience in video editing and graphic design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and bring fresh ideas.
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Desirable:
• Experience in community campaigning.
• Familiarity with Basingstoke and local issues, or a willingness to learn.

This is a full-time role, with some flexibility in working hours required, including occasional evening or weekend work. The role will be based in our Westminster office, with travel to Basingstoke required regularly.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
