Job Details
Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement.
As Local Public Affairs Officer, you’ll help ensure that palliative and end-of-life care remains a priority for local decision-makers across England. You’ll build relationships with politicians, Integrated Care Systems, local authorities and partner organisations, using evidence, insight and compelling communications to influence policy and practice. Your work will help drive local change, reduce inequalities and ensure more people receive the care and support they need at the end of life.
• Deliver Marie Curie’s programme of local public affairs activity, identifying opportunities to influence policy and practice across England.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local politicians, Integrated Care Systems, local authorities and other key stakeholders.
• Produce high-quality policy briefings, consultation responses, articles, blogs and other communications to support influencing activity.
• Analyse policy developments, legislation and research to identify opportunities and risks affecting palliative and end-of-life care.
• Support the development and delivery of campaigns and projects that improve care for people living with a terminal illness.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across research, communications and caring services to maximise the impact of policy and public affairs activity.
• Represent Marie Curie at meetings, events and conferences, raising the charity’s profile and influencing key audiences.
• Help communicate policy developments across the organisation and contribute to Marie Curie’s external communications, including social media.
