Job Details

The role of Senior Administrative Officer will include the following responsibilities, based in the Westminster Office.
  • Open, handle and action email, post, and social media enquiries.
  • Respond to enquiries by telephone, letter, email, and social media, passing on queries to another team members/MP as appropriate.
  • Diary management, minute taking and record keeping of meetings.
  • Photocopying, filing, record-keeping and typing correspondence
  • Assist in the compilation of subject briefing packs.
  • Assist with arrangements for events – this may include venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required.
  • Undertake desk research.
  • Update MP's website and social media accounts with stories about Parliamentary and constituency activity and campaigns.
  • Assist with the production/editing of videos for social media. *Video editing experience preferable.
  • Monitor local, regional, and national media coverage and brief the MP on relevant issues.
  • Manage production of parliamentary newsletters/mailouts.
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant legislation and parliamentary business and understand how these policies may impact on local constituents.
  • Draft press releases.
  • Ensure the Westminster office is fully equipped with the required office supplies.
  • Complete other administrative tasks required for the effective operation of the MP's Parliamentary office, eg record keeping of meetings.
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally, eg: to the constituency.
