An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the constituency office of Liam Byrne MP as a Senior Caseworker, supporting residents across Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North.
You will manage a varied caseload covering areas including housing, immigration, welfare benefits, health, education and local government. Working with constituents, government departments, local authorities, housing associations and community organisations, you will help people navigate complex issues and access the support they need.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with casework experience who wants to make a meaningful impact in a busy and rewarding parliamentary office.

Desirable experience
Applications are welcomed from a range of backgrounds, particularly those with:
Previous casework experience in an MP's office.
Experience supporting elected representatives.
Experience in local government, housing, welfare, advice services or community engagement.
Knowledge of issues affecting Birmingham and the West Midlands.
An understanding of parliamentary and local government processes.
Key responsibilities
Manage and resolve constituency casework.
Liaise with government departments, councils, housing providers and other agencies.
Draft high-quality correspondence and briefings.
Maintain accurate casework records in line with GDPR.
Support constituency surgeries, meetings and events.
Assist with stakeholder engagement and community outreach.
Deliver a professional, responsive service to constituents.
Identify recurring local issues and contribute to wider policy and campaigning work.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
