Job Details

Jack Rankin MP is seeking a hardworking, skilled and motivated Caseworker based in his Westminster Office. The role is part-time (3 days per week), with at least 1 day per week in the office. The successful candidate will join our team which includes a Senior Caseworker (currently full-time but moving to part-time with this appointment). The successful applicant will therefore be part of a transition working alongside an experienced caseworker. Previous experience is therefore not required, but a willingness to learn, an innate conscientiousness / attention to detail and ability to communicate well as part of a hybrid team is essential.

The successful candidate would be proactive, with strong writing/communication and organisational skills. The role requires a flexible attitude and the ability to manage constituency casework, correspondence and projects.

An ideal candidate will be familiar with the Windsor parliamentary constituency and have knowledge of local issues, but this is not a requirement.

Main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Drafting letters, e-mails and correspondence to constituents;
  • Dealing with national policy enquiries and individual casework issues;
  • Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate and handle administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public/MP surgeries;
  • Managing constituency and Westminster projects, including stakeholder engagement;
  • Providing briefings on constituency and national policy/casework matters;
  • Managing a portfolio of casework and updating constituent database;
  • Developing and progressing major constituency campaigns.

Candidates should have the following skills and qualities:

  • Strong writing/communication and organisational skills, and able to take the initiative;
  • Hardworking, flexible, pro-active team player, with the ability to work to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent research skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to prioritise workload;
  • Ability to use casework management software or willingness to learn;
  • Be politically aware, with an interest in current affairs and local issues;
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.
