Job Details

Luke Myer MP is looking for an organised and reliable Admin Officer to support the smooth running of his constituency office during a period of maternity cover.

This is a part-time role, based in the constituency office for two days per week. The successful candidate will provide general administrative support to the team, helping ensure that office systems, records and day-to-day processes are well managed.

Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing general administrative support to the constituency office.
  • Answering telephone calls, taking messages and helping direct enquiries appropriately.
  • Supporting the team with diary management, meeting arrangements and appointments.
  • Maintaining accurate office records, filing systems and databases.
  • Assisting with the organisation of advice surgeries, meetings and constituency events.
  • Supporting the Office Manager in the day-to-day running of the office.
  • Helping ensure casework and correspondence are logged and processed appropriately.
  • Handling confidential information carefully and in line with data protection requirements.
  • Supporting colleagues with other reasonable administrative duties as required.

Person Specification
Essential

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, email systems and basic office software.
  • A professional, discreet and helpful manner.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with members of the public.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team.

Desirable

  • Experience working in an office, administrative or customer-facing role.
  • Experience using a casework system, CRM or database.
  • Experience in a volunteer led organisation
  • Understanding of the role of an MP’s constituency office.
  • Knowledge of Middlesbrough and East Cleveland, or the wider Tees Valley.
  • Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
