Job Details
Andrew Lewin MP is looking for a Communications Officer who understands politics, writes persuasively and excels in the creation of social media content.
Joining his team in Westminster, the focus of the role will be to lead on all elements of communications, ensuring that Andrew’s campaigns, work in Welwyn Hatfield and Westminster reach a wide audience in his constituency. The successful candidate will also be expected to support existing members of the team in responding to policy casework on national issues.
Communications
Experience of creating and editing short films (30 seconds to 2 minutes) is essential. So too will be graphic design skills, ideally with experience of using tools including:
- Photoshop or Canva
- Editing software such as Da Vinci Resolve or Capcut
- Subtitling software such as VEED
The successful candidate will need to create and execute complementary plans for multiple social media platforms, informed by evidence and to meet specific local objectives.
Content will include:
- Promoting Andrew’s work in the constituency and amplifying campaigns in Welwyn Hatfield
- Video content summarising key debates and speeches in parliament and how it impacts local people
- Promoting Andrew’s local engagements and driving attendance at events like coffee mornings
- Managing the website, which is to be frequently updated with a broad range of content
They will also support the MP with his monthly e-newsletter, fortnightly column in the local paper and as appropriate, liaison with journalists.
The successful candidate will also work with the team to organise and coordinate Andrew’s visits in Welwyn Hatfield.
Policy
Alongside this role the successful candidate will also be expected to support the wider team on policy casework and drafting responses to constituents. They will analyse incoming correspondence and articulate findings in communication with the MP and other staff members.
Details
The role will be based in Westminster with an average of 3 days a month in Welwyn Hatfield.
There will also be an occasional requirement for the role holder to support events and visits on Saturday mornings or weekday evenings in Welwyn Hatfield.

The successful candidate will start in September, subject to satisfactory references and parliamentary security clearance.
