Job Title: Parliamentary Assistant

Working For: Sir Jeremy Wright KC MP (Kenilworth & Southam)

Location: London

Salary: In line with IPSA Pay Scales

Length of Contract: Permanent (subject to three-month probation period)

Job Details

The successful candidate will support Sir Jeremy’s work in the Westminster office.

An ideal candidate will have previous Parliamentary experience and have a good knowledge of local issues and campaigns which Sir Jeremy is involved with. The candidate will be willing to work hard, learn from others, and be a good team player.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Drafting articles
• Lead on social media
• Completing research projects on a wide variety of topics
• Deal with a large number of queries and campaigns, including policy and casework matters
• Organising Parliamentary tours and PMQ tickets for constituents
• Monitoring media, press and the progress of legislation
• Conducting and maintaining general correspondence and general office administration
• Attend surgeries and meetings in Westminster and the constituency (as agreed in advance)

Experience required:

• Good political awareness and judgement
• Effective policy correspondence management
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills
• Experience in managing and developing social media accounts
• Researching, using Parliamentary resources
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Previous Parliamentary experience is desirable
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party
