Contract: 12 month internship (on site Westminster offices)
Hours: 9am to 5.30pm Mon to Fri
The High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult helps drive economic growth across the country by keeping UK manufacturing innovative, productive and globally competitive. As a delivery partner to government, we help shape the industrial strategy and are working to ensure the UK has the people, the places and the potential to be a net zero manufacturing superpower.
The successful applicant will work across public affairs, policy and economics, working with key stakeholders including government stakeholders and industry leaders.
Tasks & accountabilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Communications and Engagement Team on tasks addressing public affairs engagement and policy development.
- Provide administrative support and co-ordination for stakeholder mapping and management.
- Manage weekly and monthly briefings to the HVM Catapult and associated centres.
- Assist with event planning, organisation and delivery.
- Provide daily tracking and monitoring service of key public affairs and policy developments.
- Supporting the development of policy work for parliamentary engagement, stakeholder management and external events.
Required skills:
Knowledge of and a keen interest in UK public affairs, government policy and the UK’s manufacturing industry. All applicants should be able to work well in a team, be self-motivated and use their own initiative. The successful candidate will need good communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and simply, have a polite and professional telephone manner, knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and able to work to deadlines.

Preferred:
- Degree in a relevant subject eg Politics, International Relations, Economics, Public Policy.
- Interest in current affairs, policy, and/or economics.
- An interest in UK industry and advanced manufacturing
