Job Details
Mike Martin MP is seeking a Communications Officer to join his friendly, happy, and hardworking parliamentary team. This is an exciting role where you’ll deliver content across social, broadcast and print media. You'll be enthusiastic, self-motivated, adaptable and have a ‘can do’ attitude: you'll be responsible for driving Mike's communications across all channels.
Key responsibilities:
- Media monitoring and analysis, propose solutions to drive reach in line with targets
- Proactively develop relationships with journalists in order to land the right stories in the right places
- Produce online graphics and video content (shooting and editing), publicising Mike’s work in Tunbridge Wells and Westminster
- Draft and send e-newsletter to constituents
- Manage website content and keep the information up to date
- Take ownership of Mike's social media accounts and use them to demonstrate Mike’s activities in Tunbridge Wells and Westminster
- Own and deliver local constituency projects
Required skills:
- Political nous: an ability to spot an angle or a story
- An ability to drive and land communications in a fast paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
- An ability to consistently produce high quality written, video and graphical content.
- Extremely organised team player
- Ability to prioritise tasks to meet all deadlines
- Familiarity of design software and photo and video editing software is desirable
- Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
Location:
You can be based in either the Westminster or Tunbridge Wells office. Regular travel between both offices will be required.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
