About Baroness Nargund

Baroness Geeta Nargund is a leading campaigner, medical entrepreneur and global advocate for women's health, health equity and gender equality. She spent nearly 40 years on the NHS frontline, including over 30 as Lead Consultant for Reproductive Medicine at St George's Hospital, Tooting.

She is Founder and Trustee of the Health Equality Foundation, Pro-Chancellor (Health Equity) at the University of Portsmouth, and Honorary Professor of Women's Health at City St George's, University of London.

As a Labour Peer, she champions women's health, reproductive rights, workplace equality, child poverty and the social determinants of health, working at the intersection of public policy, healthcare innovation and social justice.

The Role

We seek an experienced Communications Officer to lead Baroness Nargund's external communications, deliver traditional and digital media coverage, build media and stakeholder relationships, and develop campaigns supporting her work. You will align closely with the Parliamentary and Research Assistant on parliamentary priorities and public engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage media enquiries and cultivate relationships with journalists, producers and editors across political, national, healthcare and international media.
• Produce articles, opinion pieces, press releases and briefing materials.
• Lead social media and digital presence, creating content that grows reach and influence.
• Develop communications campaigns supporting charitable, parliamentary and advocacy work.
• Monitor news and politics, spot engagement opportunities, and brief Baroness Nargund ahead of media appearances and events.
• Provide occasional admin and diary support during busy periods or colleague cover.

Person Specification

Essential

• 3+ years in communications, journalism, public affairs or political communications.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, able to explain complex policy and healthcare issues clearly.
• Media relations and digital communications experience.
• Good understanding of UK politics, Parliament and the media landscape.
• Commitment to women's health, health equity and gender equality.

Desirable

• Experience with parliamentarians, senior public figures, healthcare, charities or NGOs.
• Multimedia skills: graphic design, video editing or website management.
