Job Description:
- Research local, regional, or national issues to support the MP’s work and write briefings accordingly
- Deal with complex queries on the MP’s behalf, including drafting letters, speech-writing, and responding to consultations
- Maintain and utilise knowledge of relevant legislation, including impact on the local constituency
- Keep up to date with parliamentary business, including debates, legislation, motions and Hansard. Ensure the MP is fully briefed questions and motions likely to be raised in Parliament.
- Understand current and upcoming legislation and its impact on the constituency.
- Diary management for days the MP is in Westminster
- Arrange, attend and participate in meetings as appropriate
- Provide general administrative support
- Undertake casework as required
- There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours, e.g. attending events with the MP
Person Specification:
- A can-do, dedicated and proactive approach
- Self-motivated, well-organised and able work to very tight deadlines
- Personable and able to communicate with people from all backgrounds
- A high standard of written work
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and resolve issues before they escalate
- Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party
- Experience working or volunteering in political environments preferred

Start date as soon as practical in order to support parliamentary work when Parliament returns 1st September.
Initial online interview will take place 4th August, with a second onlnie interview on 14th August. .
