Job Details

Adam Jogee MP is looking for a part-time (3 days per week) Caseworker to join his excellentConstituency Office team in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The successful candidate will work alongsidethe Senior Caseworker to provide proactive, thorough and compassionate advice and support tolocal people on a range of issues.


These issues include, particularly, housing and welfare. The Caseworker will be expected to man-age a large caseload focused on resolving problems through clear, concise and coherent commu-nication with government agencies, local authorities, the voluntary sector and other relevant organ-isations and stakeholders.


Key responsibilities:
· Assist with MP advice surgeries and other meetings and to follow up as appropriate
· Attend constituency meetings as appropriate
· Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases frommembers of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face.
· Ongoing communication may be required
· Draft the highest quality responses to constituents and their enquiries
· Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with all relevant data pro-tection legislation
· Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accor-dance with the wishes and direction of the MP
· Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
· Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
· There will be a requirement to occasionally work outside of normal working hours, including at-tending events with the MP as required.


Essential criteria:
• Ability to deal with and prioritise a large and varied workload and work well under pressure;
• Ability to manage expectations in sometimes challenging circumstances;
• Excellent interpersonal and the highest quality written communication skills;
• Good IT skills including MS Office;
• Ability to draft letters and emails to a high professional standard;
• Motivation to work proactively and independently, as well as part of a small team;
• Commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party;
• Previous casework experience desirable but not essential.
