Job Title: Caseworker (Full or part time)

Working For: Brian Mathew MP (Melksham and Devizes)

Location: Melksham

Salary: £29,000 - £32,000 FTE

Length of Contract: Initial 6 month, permanent by mutual agreement

Job Details

An exciting opportunity to work with Brian Mathew MP and his team in the constituency office.  Previous experience working in an advocacy or casework role is desirable but not essential. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
  • Attend constituency meetings as appropriate
  • Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communications with the MP and other staff members
  • Deal with large numbers of standard enquiries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face
  • Draft responses to constituents
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
  • Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Log all cases, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
  • Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

Additional information:

  • Some work outside normal office hours will be required, particularly for MP surgeries
  • Some travel within the constituency may be necessary
  • Flexibility to accommodate occasional unsocial hours
