Job Details
Lucy Rigby KC MP is looking for a creative, proactive and detail-oriented Digital Content and Communications Officer to suggest and create compelling and engaging content for audiences across digital channels. This role would suit someone who has very good creative and digital skills - most particularly in video.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team serving local people - supporting Lucy to be an active, impactful and approachable MP.
This role will be 3 days a week and can be based either in Westminster or in Northampton. If the successful candidate is based primarily in Westminster, frequent travel to Northampton will be essential (likely at least once a week).
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver end-to-end high quality, high engagement, video content to promote the MP’s’ work and campaigns across the constituency– including content ideation, and filming and editing short-form and long-form pieces tailored for a range of online channels
• Accompany the MP to visits and events across the constituency, capturing and creating compelling content
• Produce visual assets for social media using software such as Edits and Canva
• Proactively lead on digital strategy, including planning, creating and developing engaging content across a wide range of channels
• Edit and subtitle video clips using appropriate software
• Produce a monthly digital newsletter
• Manage the MPs’ website and monitor social media channels
• Suggest content ideas, formats and trends to grow reach and engagement
• From time to time, draft content for media, such as press releases, where relevant
• Provide proactive communications support for local issue-based campaigns
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Strong skills and experience in digital content creation and delivery
• Understanding of digital media trends
• Ability to react quickly to news.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative, with good attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to translate policy into clear visual stories
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
